Exploring Oslo

6/29: After our standard breakfast of fruit (the strawberries have been amazing!), cheerios for the kids (the love affair continues for Quinn especially), and granola for Bob and me, we packed our backpack for a day exploring Oslo.

The first stop was the Holmenkollen ski jump. Wow is it huge!

We kept asking each other, "can you imagine launching yourself off that?!"
We took the elevator to the top.

And took the zipline down!

We did it! Super fun :-)

We enjoyed our standard picnic lunch (pb n js, apples, carrots and pringles) while waiting for an Uber...but then realized there are very few available. Our trusty leader (Bob) figured out the public transportation on trains and busses to get us around...including figuring out the right entry into Hegelund Park for the maximum effect for the kids (who had no idea what statues were in the Park!)

We had a beautiful afternoon! Bob and I agreed that the park far exceeded our expectations. It was fun to talk about what the 4 of us think about when we look at the Monolith:

Simone: thinks all the people are fighting for something, like clawing their way to the top for something really valuable

Quinn: thinks its weird and it makes him uncomfortable

Bob: thinks its about collective anguish and suffering - no one looks comfortable

Kristin: thinks about one common humanity and how we're all in this together. From young to old, women and men - we are all one and experience joy, pain, love, loss, etc

We took the city bus to the waterfront area and stopped for a mid afternoon snack and beverage.

After a stroll around the waterfront area taking in the sights, including the Pride activities (parade earlier in the day), we went and had burgers for dinner. Simone now likes burgers!

Very cool waterfront area

We called it an early night because we had to pack up and leave early the next morning. Our train to Flam leaves Oslo at 0820!
