Back to Schengen in Dubrovnik

12/8: We left our place in Becici in the pouring rain to drive to Dubrovnik. We have been so lucky until now that we haven’t had to move our luggage around in the rain!

We crossed the border from Montenegro to Croatia no problem - he only asked us if we had any alcohol or cigarettes to declare.

SO much rain! At times the car in front of us looked like a boat making a wake.

We made it to our place, carried our luggage down 2 flights of stairs (we haven’t had to do this in awhile!) and dried ourselves off in time to watch the sunset.

Bob and I got back in the car in search of a grocery store that might be open on Sunday (I’m ready to be done with Sunday closures!). We were so happy when we found one 10 minutes away! We found the kids favorite schnitzel (basically breaded chicken patty) and our favorite Bosnian Ajvar. Winning!

Our adorable miniature kitchen - no one over 5 feet can fit!

12/9:

We found Cheerios! Hallelujah! Just when I got the kids to like granola when Cheerios weren’t an option…

The forecast had been for a rainy day, so we were pumped when the skies looked partly cloudy! We took advantage of the weather and set off right away to explore the Old Town. We sure will miss these opportunities to explore new cities on a weekday as a family!

Taking off down the steps into town. 383! Whew!

What a sight!! We’ve seen a lot of old towns and ruins, and this wall and old city had a serious wow factor!

Quinn’s pic :-)

Our favorite photographer :-)

The three of us are up top :-)

The kids in the lookout

We laughed at this sign at a cafe along the wall - the kids don’t understand. Ha! It says: "We do not have WiFi. Talk to each other. Pretend it's 1995"

Love this one - SO appreciating the lack of people!

We walked back to our place feeling so excited about our successful morning touring without rain!

383 steps back home…

Sunset at 3:51! Gotta get our touring in early with these short days!

We enjoyed our easy pasta/chicken dinner and started playing 3 handed Sheepshead. Bob
is a pro after playing so much in college, and it always works for one of us to sit out for a hand or two. We’ve started a running scorecard that we’ll keep for awhile. Fun! We also started the movie Fred Claus - really entertaining!
