Goodbye Norway and Yeah Wimbledon!!

Goodbye Norway!

One critical thing I forgot to mention is my discovery of Google Camera Translate changing my world in Norway. It is truly amazing! Check out my 2 pics below - it changed my whole grocery shopping experience!

I am now a Moomin lover! Our apartment in Reykjavik had a bunch of these mugs and I would love to buy one (I love unique coffee mugs!) but that’s one thing we can’t do on this trip is buy souvenirs! Again - how cool is it to be able to translate this whole description of each Moomin character! (Thinking of you Wendy!)

7/6: We arrived into London late last night, and took the train to the station close to our friend’s house. He (Paul) was so kind to pick us up in the pouring rain and saved us from transferring to the tube and then walking to his house. The kids and I jumped in the backseat while the guys shoehorned our duffels into the back. The kids were in amazement at the steering wheel on the opposite side of the car! They whispered to me, “mom - just wait - dad’s going to try and get in the wrong side!” So, we waited, and sure enough we all had a good laugh when Bob got in the drivers seat!

About 20 minutes later we arrived at their house and met Paul’s wife, Victoria, and their 2 sons Matteo (14) and Henry (12). We all chatted for a bit before heading to bed - our family stayed in their downstairs apartment which had everything we needed with our bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

Saturday at Wimbledon! Paul and Victoria were going to join us, but decided to stay home with all 4 kiddos and let Bob and I go solo. We would have loved to have them with us, but were INCREDIBLY grateful to have the kids cared for while we enjoyed the Wimbledon experience we have been so anticipating!

We're HERE!

Bob and I have been wanting to come here for SO long! The day started chilly and rainy, so we headed out with their Wimbledon umbrella and all our warm clothes. We took the tube and then walked to the grounds with loads of other people!

BOO rain!

I was intending on getting a coffee, but I couldn’t let Bob drink alone! Bob with a traditional Pimms.

Great seats on Centre Court! We saw Zverev play Norrie and Djokovic play Popyrin.

During the match, England was playing Switzerland in the Euro Cup, and fans were definitely watching both (as you can see the guy 2 rows in front of us!) Everyone behind him, including us, were watching along as the fĂștbol game (as we’ve been trying to say) went into PKs and England won! Fortunately for the players it happened in between points because the crowd erupted!

We walked out of the venue with SO many people all heading to the tube. It seemed like it would take us forever to get out of there, but we hopped right on a train. We are continually amazed at the ease of the public transport. So cool and so different than our norm in the US. We arrived back in our host’s hood about 1030, just in time to grab a few breakfast items at the convenience store before it closed at 11 (thankfully it didn’t close at 6pm like so many we’ve found along our journey!) We came home to a happy crew that had a great day together exploring and enjoying the favorite local ice cream shop. Bob and I shared stories from our day while enjoying some lamb that Paul and Victoria served for dinner. What a cracking good day! :-)
