10/9: Today we drove about 1 hour to the Neuschwanstein Castle. It was a gorgeous drive, and the scene around the castle lived up to what we've seen in pictures! When Bob and I were making decisions about this part of our trip, ultimately we decided not to go into the castle, as we would've had to commit to a specific date/time, and we wanted to stay flexible on our visit day depending on the weather. The reviews from inside were positive, but we've seen a lot of castles, and you can't take pictures inside. We decided to use our time to hike around the castle instead - and we're really happy we did!

The iconic view from the bridge - there were a lot of tourists around us, but not as many as at Hallstadt! We had a beautiful day, so lots of pictures! |
We forgot Charcot! Try to imagine him with Quinn in the photo :-) If only he was attached to the Packer hat that is always on Quinn's head! |
Ok, I had to post this picture as evidence of why we take mainly selfies instead of asking others. This person even got some of the dirt in front of our feet...and NONE of the amazing scene behind us! |
So we waited til he left and took our own! |
Then another person offered to take one. He got it right! Yeah! |

Our picnic lunch spot - we had to make sure the white paper bag was in the photo. We got this when we bought salmon at a market in Stockholm, and repurposed it for our lunch bag. We didn't think it would still be with us 3+ months later! |

Bob found an awesome park 10 minutes from the castle. It had a sweet zipline and an alpine slide and...a quote from the website: "a beer garden where parents can easily monitor the children." Win win for all! :-) |

Quinn and Simone on the zipline - castle in background |

Bob told me to get the large :-) |
Bob with a piece of knowledge for the day - the Germans use our 'coaster' not as we do but for a lid to keep the bees out! The Children's playground sign is behind him :-) |
Alpine slide! |
They had a blast! |
Our almost 14 year old boy - looking more and more like a young man! |
Last view of the castle on our way home - another fantastic day together! |
