10/12: We woke up to sunshine after two days of cloudy/rain. We altered our day a bit because of the weather to travel to the top of Germany.
| Lake Eibsee - the one we hiked around earlier in the week. |
The ride up was very smooth but also a bit harrowing. This tram ride holds three records; one of them is the greatest difference in height from the start to the end. It did feel like we were going straight up!
| Charcot at the top! |
| Beautiful! And cold. A ski lift is behind us in the basin. |
| The gold cross at the summit |
| Looking down at the cables that brought us up was terrifying to see! The railing around the platform up top was only slightly above waist level. I got a bit nauseated - I have developed a fairly weak stomach in the last few years! Bob feels the same way: |
| We didn’t want to get too close to the edge! |
| Notice the two guys hiking to the top! No thanks! |
| Back down to sunshine and warmth |
Now to Innsbruck and Cortina!
